Taking place on the 19th of March, the GP de Denain is the second of three consecutive non-World Tour semi-classics which mark the spring calendar. We take a look at its profile, the race expected to start and finish at 11:20 and 15:45CET.
The French race was created in 1959 and has always given space to the classics specialists on the flat cobbled sectors and historic roads of northern France, whilst also giving the sprinters room for success in the race. Thor Hushovd, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Arnaud Démare, Nacer Bouhanni marked the previous generation of winners.
But in recent years the list has continued to have great winners, with Mathieu van der Poel winning in 2019 and Jasper Philipsen in 2021, both before they've reached their prime. In 2025 it was Matthew Brennan who took the win, perhaps another rider who will go down a similar path in the peloton.

Denain - Denain, 200.5 kilometers
The 200-kilometer long race is the 'Continental Paris-Roubaix, featuring a lot of the same roads towards the finale, in a region that is sacred to pros and amateurs alike. It is a completely flat semi-classic, which has 13 cobbled sectors.
The riders will have to go through the same train of thought as in Roubaix, with furious leadout battles into the cobbled sectors proving key to avoiding crashes and mishaps; technique and luck being key in the dangerous roads themselves; whilst endurance and raw power will always play a factor in the final kilometers back into Denain.
