On the 7th of October the pro peloton takes on the Coppa Bernocchi, one of the Italian autumn classics, this one fit for the classics specialists and sprinters. We preview the race which is set to start at 12:30CET and finish at 16:20CET.
The race follows a profile that is rather similar to that of the Coppa Agostoni only two days prior, only slightly easier. The race start and finishes in the city of Legnano, with a flat start and finish but a hilly mid-section.
However this one is much more explosive, where rouleurs can equally make the difference, and climbers are less likely to succeed in doing this. The circuit will feature one major climb which is 1.6 kilometers long at 6.8% and one more small ones which is 540 meters long at 8%. This circuit will be ridden on eight different occasions before the riders take on a flat approach to the finish over the last 33 kilometers where it is still possible to bring back attacking groups, or cement gaps from attacking groups instead.

A Brief History

The Coppa Bernocchi was first held in 1919, named in honour of local industrialist Antonio Bernocchi. It has become a staple of the Trittico Lombardo alongside Coppa Agostoni and Tre Valli Varesine.
The race has crowned sprinters like Phil Bauhaus (2019) and Davide Ballerini (2022), but also featured long-range attackers like Remco Evenepoel (2021). In 2024, Belgian rider Stan Van Tricht took his first pro victory here after a successful move from a long breakaway — highlighting how unpredictable this race can be.
