The route of the 2024 @LeTour in a nutshell: ▶️ Start from Firenze / Finish in Nice ▶️ Seven stages for the sprinters ▶️ Five summit finishes ▶️ 60km of individual time trial over two stages ▶️ Gravel roads ▶️ Alps, Pyrenees, Massif Central
The route of the 2024 Tour de France has now been revealed and there are plenty of potentially race-winning opportunities. One of the men expected to compete for the Maillot Jaune is Remco Evenepoel and Soudal - Quick-Step sports director Wilfried Peeters has given his initial thoughts.
“We have a bit of everything on the menu," he previews to the official website of the Soudal - Quick-Step team immediately following the race presentation where the profiles and routes were revealed. "A very hard start in Italy and a demanding opening week, with the individual time trial in Gevrey-Chambertin and those tricky dirt roads, followed by a couple of tough mountain stages and even some days where the crosswinds could wreak havoc later in the race."
As mentioned, Remco Evenepoel is expected to make his Tour de France debut in 2024 and although Peeters doesn't go into deep detail about the team's plans for the race at this early stage, he does perhaps give an insight into their intentions to claim the Maillot Jaune.
"Then there’s also the final weekend, where without Paris, anything can happen," he concludes. "This means that a rider going for a good general classification at this edition needs to be really strong and on top of his game all the time.”
