Since our creation in January 2022, CyclingUpToDate has been developed in a way to provide free content for all of our readers. However we want to provide our audience with further options to explore our website and include the possibility of not having advertising.
None of CyclingUpToDate's publications have had restricted access since the very start. That has been one of the core traits of our platform, which we intend on maintaining, with the goal of being the best and most dynamic source of news in the cycling bubble.
We do not have a paywall. Naturally, so as to be able to sustain the website and our team's work - as well as improve it on a yearly basis - we rely on the revenue from advertising that you find when exploring CyclingUpToDate. This is a regular feature on websites of our size.
One of the options that our team is exploring is the possibility to allow our audience to have a subscription that would remove the advertising from the website, for a price of only €4 euros a month - just over 13 cents a day.
This would have no impact whatsoever on those who do not wish to have the subscription. Rather, it would allow those who subscribe to browse the website ads-free, which would also aid CyclingUpToDate's efforts to bring you the best coverage of road cycling.
We would like to know your opinion on the matter and we provide a poll below in which you can answer on whether or not you would want to use this option.

A founding contributor to CyclingUpToDate since its launch in January 2022, Ruben Silva has played a central role in shaping the site’s editorial direction and long-term growth. Before joining the project, he built his experience through independent blogging at Echelons Hub and by producing race previews for Ciclismo Internacional, developing a strong analytical voice rooted in daily engagement with professional cycling.

Originally from the Porto metropolitan area in Portugal, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography. His path into cycling journalism was shaped not through formal media training, but through independent reporting, community engagement, and sustained on-the-ground involvement in the sport.
Over the course of his career, he has conducted approximately 100 interviews across road cycling and cyclocross, ranging from one-to-one conversations and online formats to press conferences and on-site pre- and post-race coverage. His interviews include leading riders, team managers, and prominent figures within cycling media: Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard, Mathieu van der Poel, Primoz Roglic, Wout van Aert, Joao Almeida and Tom Pidcock; managers like Patrick Lefevere and Joxean Matxin; and YouTube personality Bryan Kennedy (BKXC)...
Within 18 months of launch, he helped grow CyclingUpToDate’s English-language platform into one of the most-read cycling news websites, built entirely from the ground up. As both a professional journalist and lifelong cycling enthusiast, his focus remains on delivering accurate, timely, and well-contextualized coverage.

- It was estimated that Big Mig had a Vo2 system around 88 ml/kg/min. He had talent but he was nowhere near Lemond who is estimated to be about where Remco is today, in the lower 90's. Vo2 is not everything though, but we all know that Big Mig was using EPO during his Tour winning years. Especially when you consider his size and how he was able to hold on in the mountains. Miracles don't happen in cycling, you either have it or you don't genetically, when you add training into the equation it can elevate what you have naturally, these guys all took shortcuts in that era.awp29-07-2026
- So I can give a few examples. In 2004, Lance's best year when he was winning Tours, he won Plateau de Beille, a mountain he also won in 2002. He finished with Ivan Basso and they put a touch over a minute into the third guy on the road. Tadej reset the record books on that climb in 2024, in fact he, Jonas and Remco own the top three times on that climb, almost six minutes faster than Armstrong's best recorded performance compared Tadej's. Lance's best Vo2max that was ever recorded was when he was 22 and it was 81.2 ml/kg/min, which is a great number but not a Tour dominating number. Throughout his Tour winning years he was estimated as to have a 83-85 ml/kg/min. Tadej has been estimated to be around 91–96 ml/kg/min range from sports physiologists and researchers with Jonas being right around this number. Remco has been estimated in the low 90's. If Lance in his prime were to race the 2026 Tour, his physiology, even on recovery drugs, would put him about thirty minutes to just over an hour behind Tadej, this would be 10th to 15th best in the Tour. This is an estimation of course and Vo2 max is just one consideration, but it's a major consideration and the core building block to realizing an athletes potential.awp29-07-2026

- Last year Visma kept attacking Pogi...no good... they themselves ran out of fuel. Even in week three, when Pogi had an injured knee, they couldn't break him. This year they tried attacking late...no good...Pogi demolished them. It's hard to find a new stragedy when an extraordinary rider- The GOAT... is not one, but two steps higher then everyone else. Pogi can only lose if he crashes and hurts himself... becomes ill... or becomes old in the process, when his youth and passion for racing fades away.PogiSloFans29-07-2026
