OFFICIAL: Lidl-Trek announce star signing of former Tour de France champion and Montreal World Championship runner-up

Lidl-Trek has confirmed one of its major moves for the coming seasons with the signing of Katarzyna Niewiadoma in the women’s cycling market. The Polish rider, one of the peloton’s leading figures over the past decade, will join the team from 2027 and remain with the squad through the end of 2028.
At 32, Niewiadoma arrives at the American outfit with a résumé built on consistency in the sport’s biggest races and an attacking style that has made her stand out in both Grand Tours and Classics. Lidl-Trek adds experience and a rider used to fighting for the sharp end at the calendar’s marquee events.
The defining victory of Niewiadoma’s career came in 2024. The Pole won the overall at the Tour de France Femmes after a memorable finale, defending the yellow jersey on the decisive ascent to Alpe d’Huez.
The win came down to the finest of margins, as Niewiadoma-Phinney sealed the overall by just four seconds. After years chasing that breakthrough, she finally claimed the French Grand Tour.
Her palmarès also includes major success in the Classics. The Pole has won both La Flèche Wallonne and the Amstel Gold Race, and is a regular in the places of honor thanks to her climbing ability and her knack for attacking on the toughest ascents.
The 2026 season has once again placed her among the headline acts of women’s cycling. Niewiadoma took a key stage win on Mont Ventoux in August, a victory that became another landmark in her career.

Her performance at this year’s Tour de France Femmes also matched her record. The Polish rider finished second overall and has now stood on the podium at every Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift since the race’s inception in 2022.
She now embarks on a team change after spending a significant part of her career within the same structure. Her move to Lidl-Trek aligns with the goal of racing for victories in both Grand Tours and Classics, while taking on a leadership role within a roster that also includes promising young riders.

Niewiadoma herself acknowledges that changing teams was not an easy decision, but says her conversations with Lidl-Trek ultimately convinced her of the project.

- it was a blistering attack, with ideal timing, only mathews was behind him and had an chance to possibly follow/chase quickly -- which he was gassed like everyone and alwasy leaves it to the others. Very similiar to when they closed to withing 12 seconds, its was in MVP and Matthews best interest to roll an attack and/or take a pull to finish the close, but MVP had spent his bullets making the race with quinn and Matthews will never pull a group even when its in his best interest.jad2929-09-2026
