Marianne Vos has once again been recognized for her outstanding achievements, being named Cyclist of the Year at the 2024 Cycling Gala. The 37-year-old Dutch cyclist received the prestigious Keetie van Oosten-Hage Trophy for a record tenth time, cementing her place among cycling's all-time greats.

In an interview with WielerFlits, Vos expressed her gratitude for the honour: "It is of course very special. With so many top athletes and top performances, it's already great if you have a nomination in your pocket. I'm very happy with my season. Of course, you can't control the elections, but I'm very happy with the Keetie van Oosten-Hage Trophy."

Despite her long and illustrious career, this particular award was unexpected for Vos, given how much time had passed since she last won it. "The last one was indeed a long time ago. Then of course it is not something you immediately think about, to become cyclist of the year. But with a season like this you are only very happy. As I just said, so many top cyclists have emerged in the past ten years. To be nominated and to go home with the prize is very nice."

The 2024 season will undoubtedly be one to remember for Vos. Not only did she secure a silver medal in the road race at the Olympic Games in Paris, but she also claimed the title at the World Gravel Championships. On top of these major achievements, Vos delivered an incredible spring campaign, winning Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Dwars door Vlaanderen, and the Amstel Gold Race. She narrowly missed the podium in both Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders, finishing fourth in both prestigious classics.

Vos also demonstrated her consistency during the Tour de France Femmes, where she won the points classification despite not taking a stage victory.

Marianne Vos, who rides for Team Visma | Lease a Bike, has enjoyed a storied career. At 37, she has already won the Giro d’Italia three times and was the gold medalist in the Olympic road race at London 2012. Her longevity and ability to continue performing at the highest level make her a true legend of the sport.

This latest accolade is another reminder of her exceptional talent and her place among the top athletes in cycling history.
