As the 2024 season comes to a close, Italy’s
Fabio Felline
has taken to Instagram to share a message that hints at the possibility of his
retirement. The 34-year-old rider from Turin, has spent over two decades
dedicated to cycling, and while he hasn’t made any definitive decisions yet,
his post suggests that a conclusion to his career may be on the horizon.
"Ending the 2024 season in Japan," Felline began,
reflecting on the significance of the moment. "I don't know yet if it will
be my last, in the next few weeks I'll have a definitive picture and a chance
to make a decision about my future."
Felline’s Instagram message revealed that he has been
contemplating the end of his career and the transition into a new chapter.
"Meanwhile in these months I have started to metabolize the possibility
that everything that has a beginning also has an end and down from the bike
there are projects and ideas waiting for me," he said. The Italian rider
acknowledged the emotional challenges that come with such a significant life
change, stating, "I honestly think there are moments in life you are never
quite ready for, any sudden change creates effects or emotions that takes time
and training to process."
Felline’s post also included a heartfelt thanks to his
current team and teammates. "With that being said, I want to thank
@lidltrek and all my companions with whom I have shared victories and
struggles," he wrote.
Felline has had a strong career, highlighted by winning the
Vuelta a España points classification in 2016. As his post suggests, the next
few weeks will be critical in deciding his future, and Italian fans will be
awaiting his final decision.
For now, however, the Italian’s journey may be approaching
its final chapter, as he contemplates life beyond cycling.
