It was a big day for
Louis Meintjes yesterday. The South African rider secured silver in stage 12 of the
Tour de France. He competed among the best climbers and finished 48 seconds behind stage winner
Tom Pidcock.
After silver, he is targeting the gold, "Winning a stage in the Tour remains the biggest goal for our team," Meintjes told wielerflits. He is satisfied with his performance in the stage, "I'm actually not really disappointed, no. I'm second on a stage that ended on Alpe d'Huez, that's not so bad, is it? Of course, winning would have been nicer, especially for the team," said Meintjes.
He went on to praise his rival," Pidcock had a clear plan today. He's a very strong rider, and I can only congratulate him."
"I rode a nice stage, and I moved up in the general classification. That's really nice, especially to do that at a special place like this," concluded Meintjes. Thanks to his performance, now he holds the 13th position in GC, 15 minutes and 46 seconds behind overall leader Jonas Vingegaard.
