Remco Evenepoel has had a rocky week, but it ended in the best possible way at the
Tour de Romandie. The Olympic and World Champion was the fastest in the final time-trial in Genèbre whilst
João Almeida was close to victory but did manage to jump into first place on the overall classification.
The 16-kilometer long effort was always going to be decisive in such a decisive race, and after the queen stage we had Lenny Martínez, Lorenzo Fortunato and João Almeida separated by a mere 3 seconds. However without surprise, Almeida - with a great time at the line - managed to jump into the yellow jersey to win the race overall, adding to his Itzulia Basque Country victory earlier in the month.
However he was not as fast as Remco Evenepoel on the day, who took the stage win with a very strong individual performance which gives him guarrantees that he is working well towards the Tour de France. Almeida was second whilst
Alberto Bettiol finished third on the day.
