AG2R Citroën Team rider Lilian Calmejane is reported to be ready to sign for Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux after two unsuccessful seasons with the French team.
The 29-year old is reported to be signing with the Belgian team, having already reached a vocal agreement. Calmejane signed with AG2R in 2021 after several yeats with the current TotalEnergies, in which he's taken wins at the Tour de France, Vuelta a España and several other races. The puncheur is one of the most aggressive riders in the peloton, however he couldn't live up to his promise at World Tour level.
Whereas he's thrived in the past in the French domestic classics, his level hasn't been the same since leaving TotalEnergies. In the Belgian team he'll find a change of air, team nationality and join a team which already has a lot of focus in domestic classics which should suit him.
