🇫🇷 #Dauphiné A short, but 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 stage. 🥵🏔
Jumbo-Visma's Critérium du Dauphiné isn't going to perfection so far but when it comes to the general classification they are in clear superiority and head into the final weekend with the responsibility of controlling the race.
“My climbing legs aren't that bad because it's been going up and down all week. But tomorrow it will be a different kind of mountains," van Aert said at the end of stage six. Although he has since early on stated that the general classification would not be a goal, after two wins, several other podium places and a strong time-trial, he finds himself in the race lead with over a minute to closest competitor Mattia Cattaneo. Today will be a day of decisions in the Jumbo camp, who just have to follow the wheels.
Once again, he pinpointed the name in which the team is expected to rely on, Primoz Roglic: "Of course we have Primož, who is in very good shape.” From the start of the race the Belgian champion has been very vocal about the Slovenian but not in any way for Jonas Vingegaard who sits only one spot below the triple Vuelta a España winner, which may be purposeful so as to give the team more freedom to play with.
Today's stage will put the trio to the challenge as the riders head into Vaujany after climbing the Col du Galibier and the Col de la Croix de Fer. The Dutch team are in prime position to take the overall win but will have tough competition to face.
