Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team's
Nicolas Prodhomme has stormed to a stunning solo summit success on stage 3 of the 2025
La Route d'Occitanie, taking over the race lead in the process.
With the stage all about summits of the Col du Tourmalet and the Luz Ardiden in the final 50km, the main GC contenders all came out to play on the Tourmalet, with an elite 10-man group clearing the summit together, including the likes of Cristian Rodriguez, Jefferson Alexander Cepeda, Nicolas Prodhomme,
Steff Cras and
Davide Piganzoli among others.
On the lower slopes of the final climb, Piganzoli then started to break free solo. Behind the Italian, Prodhomme and Cras were proving strongest of the chasers. Before long, Prodhomme had proven himself strongest of the entire race, catching and passing Piganzoli and storming away to the stage win and the race lead in stunning solo style.
