The Portuguese athlete will start by racing the Challenge de Mallorca and then head to Portugal, where he will take part in the Figueira Champions Classic and the Volta ao Algarve.
It should be noted that in the two Portuguese races,
João Almeida will be racing alongside
Tadej Pogacar, thus creating a suspense as to what might happen later in the season... Almeida and Ayuso are both set to make their
Tour de France debut in 2024, however it is very possible that they will teammate with the Slovenian who seems keen on returning.
Leaving Iberian soil, he will race the Tirreno-Adriatico, to return to Spain where he will take part in the Volta a Catalunya. Looking at the races he'll be taking part in, it's safe to say that
João Almeida will be defending the 3rd place he won this year at the Giro d'Italia, before taking part in the Portuguese National Championships, where he'll be trying to win back his former jersey in the road race and defend his current time trial jersey.
João Almeida's schedule for the second half of the season could change. Firstly, because it hasn't been completely ruled out that he'll make his
Tour de France debut, and secondly because he's one of the athletes eligible for the Paris Olympics. In this sense, one of the races that is on the calendar, the Tour of Poland, is currently unknown. João Almeida will also take part in the European and World Championships.
