Tadej Pogacar reportedly starting 2024 season in Portugal at the Figueira Champions Classic

Although he may not have secured himself his main goal of a third Tour de France title in 2023, Tadej Pogacar had a very impressive season regardless. In 2024, there are rumours of a change in goals and reportedly the UAE Team Emirates leader will begin his campaign in Portugal.

According to the Portuguese outlet, A Bola, "a source close to UAE Team Emirates," has told them that the current Slovenian National Champion will begin his 2024 season at the Figueira Champions Classic (10th of February) and the Volta ao Algarve (from 14 to 18 February).

Initially, it was thought that Pogacar would begin his season at the Clássica Jaén Paraíso Interior (February 12) in Spain, but now that could have changed. Also mentioned is the fact that whilst the Tour de France and the Olympic Games remain top goals, the Giro d'Italia is a very realistic possibility.

Teammate João Almeida meanwhile, is expected to have a calendar that won't be too far from this year's, and it is thought that he will probably be one of Portugal's eligible cyclists for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
