The relationship between
Alpecin-Deceuninck and
Jasper Philipsen looks set to continue with the Belgian ready to re-sign according to reports, after months of transfer speculation.
“I told Alex Carrera (his new agent ed.) that the next four or five years will be my top years,” Philipsen previously said in conversation with Het Laatste Nieuws. “I hope to find a team where I can get the best out of myself. That could also be in my current team. All options are open. I will look at the full picture and then decide.”
Latest reports suggest however, that Philipsen and Carrera have decided that the place to get the best out of the Belgian sprinter, is indeed Alpecin-Deceuninck. According to GCN, Philipsen and the team of the Roodhooft brothers are set to extend their mutually successful partnership until 2028.
After taking more wins than anyone else in 2023, including multiple stages of the Tour de France and the race's Green Jersey, Philipsen has impressed again this year with a monument win at Milano-Sanremo and a second successive Paris-Roubaix podium behind his teammate, Mathieu van der Poel. Therefore, it's understandable that the Belgian has opted to stay put.
