Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team was created a few years ago but this winter it has taken the leap straight to the spotlight. The three-year deal with Tom Pidcock changes everything and puts another team with chances of winning at the top level. Today the team also revealed the signing of the Olympic Champion's brother Joe Pidcock and... his coach Kurt Bogaerts .
“First impressions are always important and in the case of the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team those impressions were positive," Bogaerts said in a press release. In Spain, Bogaerts was already able to link up with the Swiss team after Pidcock was confirmed in the team. Him and soigneur Xenia de Roose had been removed from INEOS Grenadiers' website and it was clear that the announcement was only a matter of time.
"It’s very special to continue working with Tom. Xenia and I have been part of his career since 2018, and we achieved great results together. In this new team environment, I am looking forward to continuing that journey," he says.
An athlete of the caliber of Pidcock always requires a top coach, but most importantly it was key for the Briton to continue having Bogaerts by his side due to the sheer uniqueness of his schedule. Although he will opt to skip the ongoing cyclocross season, Pidcock is a double Olympic MTB Champion at age 25 but also a top rider on the road - having in his palmarès wins at the Tour de France, Strade Bianche and most recently Amstel Gold Race.
Being able to properly prepare for different types of goals in different types of terrains and disciplines is a mammoth task but seemingly one that has been perfected very well by the duo. Pidcock's signing with Q36.5 has allowed him to keep his entourage with him and he will have full leadership in the team, who will also greatly benefit in terms of wildcards to World Tour races and leverage to sign other big riders.
"With the technical partners we have, we want to play an important role in the future of cycling. We ride the future as the team’s motto states. This is a project with a lot of possibilities for growth. Together with the riders and staff we are going to make 2025 lit," Bogaerts concluded.
