"It was a tough time trial", said Wout van Aert after second win of the season

Jumbo-Visma have taken another impressive win today at Paris-Nice. After having the uncontested lead of the race, they have today expanded it after Wout van Aert won the race's time-trial and overturned teammate Christophe Laporte into the yellow jersey.

“It was a tough time trial with a challenging course - something for guys like Primoz and Wout. After days of work, I am happy with my result. It’s great that we are doing so well as a team," he said.

“Along the way, I didn’t notice much of the time differences, so I just rode full throttle towards the finish. It hurt to be on the pedals all the time on the last climb, but it was necessary," he said regarding his effort. After Rohan Dennis led most of the time-trial, only the final riders off the ramp managed to beat his time, as both teammates Primoz Roglic and van Aert consecutively went over the line beating each others' times.

"We are one of the best teams in the time trial, so perhaps this result is not very surprising. Primoz and Rohan have also won many prizes in this discipline and were on the podium of the Olympic time trial last year. That says it all. This is another victory by and for the team. It’s already been a great week, so hopefully, more great results will come. We are going to do everything we can to win this race," he concluded, adding it was no big surprise that the team took the first three places in the stage, just as it did on the opening day (albeit in much different circumstances).

Van Aert now sets off for a hard fifth stage in the yellow jersey. His role in the team should evolve on a daily basis taking into consideration how he and Primoz Roglic are in the climbs. One thing is sure though, it's that Jumbo-Visma have the pole position heading into the crucial phase of the race.
