Daniel Martínez and
Adam Yates are currently sitting third and fourth in the overall classification at
Paris-Nice, 1:00 and 1:50 minutes down on Primoz Roglic respectively, and today in the final showdown of the French stage-race they have pointed towards an aggressive strategy on a day that is likely to be very explosive.
The final 115-kilometer long stage will see the riders do a set of loops around Nice which will include five categorized climbs, very compacted with several technical descents between them. It is a stage that has in the past seen successful GC raids and this year may be no different, with it's rolling ascents ideal for large and strong groups to go up the road, and tough ascents of the Côte de Peille and Col d'Èze hard enough to make differences between the favourites.
Adam Yates has spoken this morning and the team has shared on social media a quote of his, outlining that the team has nothing to lose "and it's a short explosive stage. You never know". Yates also points out that INEOS are "the only team with numbers on the GC" which is not only accurate, it doesn't even take into consideration the numerical advantage INEOS have at the start of the stage, being one of the only three teams that will start the final day with the full lineup alongside Movistar Team and Lotto Soudal.
