"Everything went as hoped" on the Col de Turini says Primoz Roglic

Jumbo-Visma have had an overly dominant performance at Paris-Nice. Yesterday at the queen stage, Primoz Roglic not only defended his race lead alongside the likes of the Yates twins and Daniel Martínez, but extended it with a win atop the Col de Turini.

“It was a fast race from the beginning, but I felt good. I was always able to follow and keep control during the attacks by Yates and Quintana, among others. So yes, everything went as hoped," Roglic said after the finish.

After watching the race from the middle of the peloton calmly throughout the stage, Roglic saw several attack attempts in the final climb, having to close down an early attack of Adam Yates, and then the several surges of Daniel Martínez and Simon Yates in the final kilometers who proved to be his most direct rivals.

"Tomorrow is the decisive day and I’m ready," he concluded. Today the loop around Nice will see bad weather and several riders who will be looking to attack his lead for a final time. Not only will he depend on his team, but Roglic will also have to be tactically astute to be able to control the imminent attacks. Despite his strong triumph, Roglic did not put much emphasis on the stage win but instead on what must be done to ensure last year's scenario - where he lost the race on the final day - doesn't repeat itself.
