Ethan Hayter's departure from INEOS Grenadiers already seemed certain for several months. However, the very versatile rider won the British national championships in late June, a much needed victory for him and the team. But despite this, there hasn't been an agreement and Hayter will join Remco Evenepoel's Soudal - Quick-Step in 2025.
According to transfer specialist Daniel Benson this transfer is already confirmed, but not yet public. The British champion will be likely having the same role within the Belgian team, chasing success in the time-trials, hills and occasionally sprints. He took a solo win in Saltburn-by-the-Sea that put to an end a very difficult stint for the Briton.
Hayter's departure follows that of Jhonatan Narváez to UAE Team Emirates which effectively depletes the British team's classics block. The 25-year old has over the past year and a half struggled with positioning which has often made it difficult to contest for top results.
Quick-Step are putting in resources to better support Remco Evenepoel and his Grand Tour ambitions, but Hayter is a different kind of signing. The Belgian team will be trying to get the best Hayter back, a rider that has in previous years won the GC at the Tour de Pologne and Tour of Norway and has won stages in races such as the Tour de Romandie, Itzulia Basque Country... Over 2021 and 2022 the Briton took no less than 15 wins.

Bring back Brailsford. Not sure what issue is now but the DS are very weak and appear not to be able to manage people very well like Brailsford could and get the best from the team . Me thinks Ineos may jump ship with sponsorship.

Cant help but think Hayter will be a misfit wherever he goes. I can see the annoyed with him statements from Patrick already. As for INEOS well who knows what's going on - they appear rudderless without leadership.

Narvarez, Hayter out.......Jungels, Langellotti in. Even a blind man can see Ineos are going one way and i`ts not up.

I don't think they are on the up! More flat-lining I would say. Naravez a loss yes but how do you compete with UAE money? Hayter no big loss, had a poor last two years. One or two younger talents in the squad such as Tarling and August but they need two or three years more to have any chance of challenging for a GT again.

Think they need to invest in youth. Would you look at any British talents like Poole, olney or Blackmore?

Rumour has it that they will sign Sam Watson 22 from FDJ. They also have a couple of young Danish 18 year olds coming . they already have AJ August who looks like the real dea;. What they don't have is a rider to challenge Pog, Jonas and Remco so it might take a few years! They signed Leo hayter 23 off the back of his baby Giro win but he has not developed and even gone backwards.

Yeah I agree, Leo has not been brilliant. Probably should have gone for gloag, lenny or Cian to be fair. I think Bigham is now leaving aswell due to lack of leadership and direction, that tells you a lot. Recent signings of oscar and foss also tell you not many believe in the project now. Real shame. Not really sure what we can do?

Seems fair enough. Ethan needs a fresh start and a hard DS who won't allow him to ride at the back. I think he would make a great mid mountain support rider though. No real loss to INEOS but maybe a great pickup for Soudal.
