INEOS Grenadiers found massive issues during the 2024 season, with a few bad relationships within the team and lots of departures between riders and staff. In 2025 there is a fresh breeze in the British team and alongside it new sponsorship opportunities.
"Obviously the work we are doing is confidential but everything is going very well. People are realizing that we are a team that has embarked on a journey, and many companies have shown their interest in being part of this journey," team CEO
John Allert shared with CyclingWeekly.
Previously Team Sky, now INEOS Grenadiers, the team has always had a sole title sponsor delivering a large budget that always helped the team be competitive at the top level. It's something that has to be dealt with carefully. "We have to be careful and selective in choosing which and how many agreements to sign, but I think I can say that we are in a good situation looking to the future".
The team recently has been linked to TotalEnergies, the French company already sponsors a ProTeam currently but the possibility of a switch or even a merger is not to be discarded. However Allert kept the team's secrets close to his chest and didn't budge when asked about it. “I can’t talk in detail about any one partner. We’ve spoken to literally hundreds of companies, some new to the cycling world and some already familiar with it".
"As soon as we’re ready we’ll communicate which path we’ve decided to take, but at the moment it’s premature for me to comment on every type of rumor. I’ve heard and read rumors about a whole series of extremely interesting possible brands, I wish they were all true.”
However at the time being the team has seemingly improved and appears more motivated. Filippo Ganna has been headlining the team in the spring classics to great results, also taking off the pressure from others as the results have been coming in and so has the exposure. Caleb Ewan's start to the season and multiple wins aid to this cause as well.
“We have worked really hard on a whole range of areas of the team over the last few months. We have invested in the bikes, in all the equipment from helmets, to goggles and all the way down to the aerodynamics," Allert argues. "Everything has been analyzed. It has then been our champions who have taken these innovations, added their commitment and built on what we have achieved to date. It is only April and it would be premature to start celebrating too soon, but I can say that we are confident in the direction we are taking and proud of our hard work.”
