Danish cyclist Magnus Cort Nielsen has decided to end his 2025 season ahead of schedule. The Bornholm rider, one of the stars of the Norwegian Uno-X Mobility team, explained that after months of battling persistent fatigue it makes no sense to continue forcing a return to competition this year.
"I just can't get back. The energy just isn't there. I get tired quickly when I train, so I've come to an agreement with the team to call it a day for the season," Cort himself told Feltet.
The Dane acknowledged that he does not know the exact causes of his prolonged fatigue, which makes it difficult to make clear plans for 2026. "I try to take it easy, but it's frustrating. You don't know how the next season is going to go. I would have liked to finish differently. I'm in an uncertain place, but it is what it is," he said.
As part of his recovery, Cort will undergo hypoxia treatment in Copenhagen, in addition to focusing on periods of complete rest.
The rider recounted that after the Tour of Denmark he tried different training approaches, from long, gentle sessions to short, intense work, but to no avail: "No matter what I do, I run out of steam."

A coup for Uno-X

The decision is a setback for his team, immersed in the tough battle for a WorldTour license. Every UCI point is vital and losing one of their leaders in the final stretch of the season complicates their aspirations.
"It's frustrating, it feels almost like giving up. It's not what I wanted, but you have to be realistic. With the level of form I have now, I could hardly contribute in races," Cort admitted.

Despite the bitter outcome, the Danish cyclist leaves some flashes in his 2025: three victories and several outstanding results in prestigious classics such as Strade Bianche, Milano-Sanremo and Eschborn-Frankfurt. In contrast, his participation in the Tour de France went unnoticed, and his last competitive appearance was the second stage of the PostNord Danmark Rundt.
