Having begun his season at the Vuelta a Andalucía in February, Frederik Frison was put out of action in a bizarre incident, in which he was bitten by a Weimaraner dog. In his first year with his new Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, the Belgian rider is looking to return to competition after suffering this strange setback.
In an interview with Sporza, Frison spoke about how his injury had affected his season, as he said “it was such a stupid incident that no one could do anything about, with serious consequences. Everything went perfectly last winter. I didn't even have a cold. After the incident, I felt a bit more mentally depressed for a few days”.
According to the rider, the injury to his groin area is still troubling him, as he went on to say “I still have to be careful with the swelling on the wound, because such a saddle is not always soft”.
Looking ahead to his upcoming races after his return from injury, Frison stated “I am cautious, but I want to get a taste of racing again at the end of April. The 4 Jours de Dunkerque, Tour de Suisse and the Belgian National Championships are still goals”.
