Jonas Vingegaard and
Primoz Roglic put time into the reigning
Vuelta a Espana champion,
Remco Evenepoel on stage 6 of the 2023 Vuelta a Espana. It was their
Jumbo-Visma teammate
Sepp Kuss who stole the headlines however.
“It was a good day, we did really well. We put pressure on Soudal Quick-Step and that went perfectly," the Danish, two-time Tour de France winner said delightedly in a post-stage interview with Eurosport having crossed the line alongside Roglic, 32 seconds ahead of Evenepoel.
Up the road even further however, Sepp Kuss, the man for so long who has raced in the shadow of Roglic and Vingegaard was shining and taking a stunning stage win. “Sepp is amazing, he really deserves this," says Vingegaard. "It's a pity he's not in the red, he really deserved that."
Kuss now lies second in the general classification, 6 seconds behind Lenny Martinez. For Vingegaard though, after a few days of illness, this was a much better day. "It was okay, I felt better than the last few days. I did have some trouble, but luckily I was able to find my legs again."
