Primoz Roglic ignited the general classification fireworks on stage 6 of the 2023
Vuelta a Espana, attacking on the final climb of the day and distancing all his rivals as he crossed the line alongside teammate
Jonas Vingegaard.
"That is very good. It's only the first mountain stage, and I had good legs. It's still a long way, but we can enjoy this," said the Slovenian in typically dry fashion in his post-stage interview with Eurosport. "We can't complain, huh."
Making a good day a great day for
Jumbo-Visma, the stage was won by both Roglic and Vingegaard's loyal support rider
Sepp Kuss. "Sepp won? Crazy," said a delighted Roglic. "We won, took time, so we can't ask for more."
Although
Remco Evenepoel still sits above the Jumbo-Visma duo in the GC, a total of 32 seconds were gained by them over the Belgian in an incredibly dramatic stage.
