27-year-old Frenchman Franck Bonnamour is yet to find a ride for the 2023 season after his former employer B&B Hotels - KTM collapsed, leaving a plethora of riders in the same situation. According to reports, AG2R Citroën could soon be Bonnamour's new home.
French newspaper Ouest-France claims that talks are already underway between Bonnamour and AG2R's team manager, Vincent Lavenu. Bonnamour, who rose to prominence in the 2021 Tour de France, riding to four top 10 stage finishes and finishing 22 overall in the general classification is said to be someone Lavenu has long taken a liking to.
Despite a relatively disappointing 2022 season in which the Frenchman failed to build on his 2021 Tour success, Bonnamour did pick up his first career victory at La Polynormande and came close to a stage win at Paris-Nice before ultimately finishing 2nd.
Bonnamour is not the only rider affected by the chaos surrounding B&B Hotels-KTM. Perhaps the most notable rider who is a free agent as a result is Mark Cavendish. The Manx Missiles hopes to break the great Eddy Merckx Tour de France stage win record looks to be hanging in the balance as he continues to search for a ride in 2023.
