Soudal - Quick-Step have high hopes and odds of winning stages throughout the
Tour de France.
Fabio Jakobsen, winning of two stages at the recent Baloise Belgium Tour, will look to improve on his results of last year where he won once.
"I prepared in the same way as last year. The Tour is not easy, that's why it's the Tour. Last year, I won a stage, and I want to do that again. The mountains are indeed tough, but it was the same last year. I just want to finish within the time limit," Jakobsen admits to In de Leiderstrui. After a modest start to the year, he has bounced back and has full support of the team, with Michael Morkov, Yves Lampaert and Florian Sénéchal in the leadout.
The Belgian team will hope it's leadout once again functions in the way it has in the past. The likes of Julian Alaphilippe, Kasper Asgreen and Rémi Cavagna will in the meanwhile also be on the hunt for wins in breakaways, as well as the opening weekend where the yellow jersey will be on display.
But throughout the many flat stages that the race finds, Jakobsen will be the chosen one. "We hope to sprint on day three or four, but it depends on the teams and what happens. The green jersey is not a major goal for me," he revelas. "I want to win one or multiple stages. Other riders are better suited to win the points classification."
