Having made the switch from EF Education-EasyPost to the Uno-X Pro Cycling Team, Magnus Cort Nielsen has been incredibly impressed by his new employer's set-up at this early stage of their relationship.
"It has been exciting. There have been many meetings and many people that I will get to know," says the 30-year-old Dane in conversation with Discovery, one of his first interviews since the announcement of his transfer to Uno-X. "It's a Scandinavian team and I had my best social time when I was racing in Denmark and I think there might be some similar camaraderie in Uno-X. That was one of the pluses for me, in addition to the fact that it is a team in great progress that I am looking forward to taking part in."
A winner of nine Grand Tour stages throughout his illustrious career, Cort has long been one of the most exciting riders in the peloton and his arrival can be considered a big coup for Uno-X. Despite their status as a ProTour team though, the former EF Education-EasyPost and Astana Qazaqstan Team rider doesn't see much difference in the set-ups.
"They don't have all the WorldTour races and the race calendar isn't quite ready yet, but for me I get a lot of good races and can help my teammates if I have the opportunity," he explains. "It is becoming one of the biggest ProTeams. They have taken their place and have in no way seemed less than the WorldTour teams. I don't feel that either now that I've become a part of it. I feel it is at least as good or even better than what I expected."
