Emma Norsgaard is playing a big role in the strong start of the season by
Movistar Team. At
Le Samyn des Dames, she took her first win of the season after being close to it twice.
"I'm quite happy with the results so far," Norsgaard said in a post-race interview after taking the win. After finishing sixth in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and second at Omloop van het Hageland, the Danish rider started off her season with a strong set of results.
The last 15 kilometers are where the race was decided and she was asked regarding how she dealt with the flurry of attacks that threatened a sprint win: "The most important part was not to panic too much, there were breakaways all the time, I knew I had a strong team behind me and we would finish in a sprint."
With Shirin van Anrooij and Vittoria Guazzini brought back in the final meters already mid-sprint, Norsgaard showed her strength by taking a dominant win in the slight uphill sprint.
"No, I'm never sure to win, but I was thinking we had a really good move in the sprint," she concluded.
