Trek - Segafredo's Ellen van Dijk has prepared and took over the Women's Hour Record this past month in Grenchen, Switzerland, and back to road racing now she's opened up about the experience.
Asked if she would be able to consider another tilt at the Hour record, in which she just took a new record of 49.254 kilometers, she had: “Maybe. I would never say no. I enjoyed the whole build-up... I might do it again – who knows?" She told Cyclingnews. The 35-year old is on a career-best run, carrying the rainbow stripes in the individual time-trial discipline.
“Everything I had to do for it was new for me. I last rode on the track ten years ago and I still had to learn so many things, the technique and everything. I invested so much in it that I think if I did it another time, it would be a bit easier in the way that I’ve gone through so many things already," she added.
With here eyes now on the Tour de France Femmes, she's currently racing the Women's Tour where she hasn't been able to get any meaningful result, however is looking to get some good form again ahead of the summer.
“It’s such an ultimate effort, you have to be at your best at absolutely everything... It was the best project I’ve done in my cycling career. It was so, so cool to do it, with so much support from the team," the Dutch pointed out.
