Dutch delegation including six riders from the longlist visited Paris on an Olympic route recon

A delegation from the KNWU has visited in and around Paris in recent days with view to the 2024 Olympic Games. The program included recon of the logistical challenges, visiting a number of courses and exploring the road races. There were also a number of Dutch riders.

The KNWU party included national coach Loes Gunnewijk and six riders who are on the Netherlands' long list to represent Orange during the Olympic road race next year. They were Ellen van Dijk, Charlotte Kool, Riejanne Markus, Demi Vollering, Marianne Vos and Lorena Wiebes. Together they visited the riders' hotel, explored the area and rode the opening circuit and the route of the road race.

The KNWU emphasizes that the six are on the longlist for Paris 2024, but that it is absolutely not yet a final selection. This is still completely open. In May, the association will make the final selection public through national coach and technical director Wilbert Broekhuizen. The Netherlands will be allowed to send four road riders to France next year, two of which will also compete in the time trial.

For Van Dijk and Vos it was their first public performance after Van Dijk's pregnancy and Vos' new operation on her inguinal arteries, respectively.
