Kaden Groves has taken a very strong win today at the
Tour of Turkey has he's beaten his strongest competition to date, in a dash that earned him his second win of the season.
“It’s pretty amazing! I’m very happy to back up with another win already this season and I can’t thank my team enough today, they did such a great job. It wasn’t too bad [the wind] because it was a tailwind coming in from 10km to go, so it was just super-fast," Groves said after the finish. After a third place in yesterday's stage and a strong win at the Volta a Catalunya some weeks ago, Groves was a big favourite for this sprint and he succeeded in his goal.
"But we waited and waited until the exit off the big open road with about 4km to go. We nailed the plan today, everyone knew their role and where they had to take us, it was pretty textbook in the end. We weren’t really sure in the direction of the wind, it was changing quite a bit today, but we thought why not try and take another team with us, in the end the wind wasn’t in the right direction. It was certainly strong enough, everyone tried, but nothing really, really happened," he added.
He was in the wheel of Jasper Philipsen when the Belgian launched his sprint and in the final meters he went over to take a strong win. Groves is carrying some great form and is now leading the race. Tomorrow will be another opportunity for him to grab a win, before the fourth stage of the race where the climbers will come to the fore.
