The second stage of the race proved a little easier, and with more sprinters in the mix for the finale in Alaçati. The stage was marked by some crashes, including Nairo Quintana towards the finale of the stage, and his teammate Nacer Bouhanni also abandoned during the day hence missing out on opportunities to grab meaningful wins. Lotto Soudal once again led-out Ewan in the pole position, however he didn't have the speed to capitalize today, as he was swarmed in the final meters. Groves had the top speed and took the win, beating
Jasper Philipsen and
Sam Bennett at the line.
