Where the future lies for
Demi Vollering is one of the most intriguing questions in
women's cycling at the moment. According to the latest reports, the Tour de France Femmes winner could be close to securing her next team.
Ever since
Team SD Worx - Protime somewhat surprisingly announced the Vollering would be departing the team at the end of the season, rumours have abounded of record breaking contract offers and interest from across the women's World Tour peloton. According to Algemeen Dagblad and Wielerflits,
FDJ - Suez may have won the race.
This does however, contradict recent comments from FDJ-Suez boss, Stephen Delcourt who recently laughed off the rumours of Vollering's arrival in conversation with GCN. "How’s that possible? We’re not Dutch, and with Lapierre. Do you think it’s possible? Maybe we can start the negotiations tomorrow... I don’t know but every team wants a Demi, every team wants a Juliette Labous, everyone wants an Elisa Longo Borghini," Delcourt said.
One of the premier riders in the women's peloton, wherever Vollering ends up, it's likely she could become the highest paid rider though. And with FDJ-Suez having a number of riders in their contract year, it's possible they could sacrifice some to open up room in the wage budget.
