Primoz Roglic has become one of the senior figures in the peloton. After starting his professional sport career on skis, the Slovenian is heading into his 10th season as a professional cyclist in 2025, determined to prove he is still very much at the top of his game.
"Wow. Crazy no? I'm really getting old," Roglic responds in his typically dry fashion when the topic of his 10th season is brought up by Eurosport. And with a large smile, the 35-year-old is clearly still really enjoying himself in the professional peloton. "It's a pleasure yeah, to still be a part of it," he adds warmly.
Given the fact he came to the sport relatively late, it's hard to gauge just how long Roglic can continue. When asked how many years he has left, the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe wisely refuses to give himself a deadline. "I have no idea," he laughs honestly. "I mean, the thing is, as long as long as you have a passion about [it]. It's not about age at all. But, just as long as you see yourself willing to do all these things you know, willing to be a part of it."
Not only the thought of continuing to compete either, Roglic is intent on continuing to improve. Something that might be needed if he is to challenge the likes of compatriot Tadej Pogacar and former teammate Jonas Vingegaard at the Tour de France later this summer. "Yeah definitely, that (improving) is also the thing. It drives you forward, it drives that you wake up every day with those small goals and then they can become big after some months or years," he explains.
The Tour de France isn't Roglic's only goal this year. The five-time Grand Tour winner has already been confirmed for a return to the Giro d'Italia in May, leading Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe's Maglia Rosa charge.
