"They will definitely play an important role," Nibali says of the time trials. "If you are in good shape, those first 13 kilometres in Tirana already give you a clear indication of where you are in terms of condition and this is true for everyone. While in general for time trialists, like Roglic for example, they are essential. The time trials will allow Roglic to gain precious ground. And then to manage the race in a certain way."
As touched upon by Nibali though, the strength of teams and support could also be a key part of the fight for the 2025
Giro d'Italia. "It matters a lot. With such a significant difference in altitude, it is essential to have a team that can support you from the first stages," the Italian says. "The goal is to save yourself. If halfway through the Giro your companions are already tired, you risk being left alone in the most challenging part, and that is a problem."
