Cian Uijtdebroeks looked to have taken the overall victory at the 2025
Czech Tour, but in an incredibly dramatic finale, the Belgian completely fell apart inside the final kilometre, allowing the chasing
William Junior Lecerf to hold on to the overall race lead.
A 10-man breakaway got themselves clear of the peloton relatively early on, with King of the Mountains leader Nicolò Garibbo and yesterday's stage winner Liam Walsh among the number. With 47km to go though, the Aussie sensation Walsh decided to go solo and kicked clear of his companions in the break. There was a real lack of cohesion in the chase too, allowing Walsh to extend his lead to around 40 seconds over the chasers with 30km to go, with the peloton still over two minutes back.
By the time Walsh entered the last 20km, he had been joined by a counter-attacking Loïc Bettendorff and Michiel van Vliet. With the final climb to the finish line in sight, Van Vliet attacked again to move clear solo at the front. With 6km to go, his day too was done as the peloton came roaring past ready for the fight for overall victory.
With around 4km to go, the expected move of Cian Uijtdebroeks then launched. Both race leader William Junior Lecerf and 2nd overall Alessandro Fancellu were straight on the Belgian's back wheel though. As Uijtdebroeks continued to set an infernal pace, inside the final 3km, both Lecerf and Fancellu had been ridden off his wheel. From there, victory looked all but assured for the Team Visma | Lease a Bike leader, but in an astonishing finale, the Belgian completely exploded with the finish line in sight and the chasing group not only caught him, but passed him too. In the end, Jannis Peter took the stage as Lecerf held on.
