Christophe Laporte started his season in style, finishing third at Omloop Het NIeuwsblad and sixth at Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne. The
Jumbo-Visma rider is satisfied with how the team deals with the many sides of being a pro rider, and attest to the happiness he feels.
"I don't pay too much attention to that, but I feel better and better. I feel good. Better than last year? We'll see at the races," Laporte said in an interview with La Provence. "I don't ask myself too many questions, I just want to win the most beautiful races. In 2022, I won more beautiful ones than before, I will try to continue."
The Frenchman showed his best ever form last year alongside the Dutch team, helping Wout van Aert to great success in the cobbled classics, whilst himself winning stages at the Tour de France, Paris-Nice, Tour of Denmark and Binche-Chimay-Binche. It was a storming year and he's looking to replicate that in 2023, with a big eye on the cobbled classics.
"Things are going really well in the team, it is very human, really seeks well-being of the rider, is professional in the way of working, on the material, the training, the ambition... Nothing is left to chance, everything is optimized. They have understood that to have riders who win, you must have happy rirders. That suits me," he concluded.
13th at Milano-Sanremo, Laporte now has his full sights in the cobbles, where he will ride alongside the likes of Wout van Aert, Dylan van Baarle and Tiesj Benoot in search of success.
