Carlos Rodríguez was present a few days ago at the official presentation of the route of the Vuelta a Espana 2025. The Andalusian gave an interview to Eurosport in which he confirmed that his idea is to race his home Grand Tour this year, as well as the Tour de France.
Potentially the biggest INEOS Grenadiers general classification hope going into the 2025 season, the Spanish climber also spoke about the recent structural changes in the British team and how it has affected him personally.
"Well, it's still tough. There are a lot of mountain passes, interesting stages. And the main thing is that there are going to be opportunities for people in the breakaway, for people in the general classification. So I think it's going to be a Vuelta that's going to be conducive to the show and I think the spectators are going to enjoy it."
"Well, in principle, yes. There's still a long way to go, but I'd like to do it next year."
"Well, it's hard to say yet, but the Angliru, which I've never done, I think it could be a pretty nice stage. And, well, any stage that starts with a steep climb, with a climb at the start that's going to make everyone's legs ache."
"Yes, they have changed a lot, both team members and the structure, the way of working. And well, I think it's going to take us time to adapt, and also to improve, which is what we want. But let's hope that these changes are for the best and that we can return to being the reference team we were before.
"Yes, well, the structure changes, there are already changes. And then I've also changed coach, so I'm also working in a different way. But that doesn't mean it's better or worse, but you have to trust, work the best you can as always and hope that those changes are reflected for the better."
"Well, if everything goes well and following the plan, I'll start with the Vuelta a Valencia and then we'll have to start to work out the other races".
