"I thought two laps in that I could win. But Vandeputte was the best" - Felipe Orts continues to impress, taking Spain's best-ever World Cup results in Hulst

Felipe Orts continues to go from strength to strength this winter, breaking new ground this Saturday afternoon in Hulst, finishing 2nd to Niels Vandeputte in the best ever Spanish result at a World Cup race.

Although Vandeputte led throughout, Orts worked his way through the field before making his big charge on the penultimate lap. Cutting Vandeputte's lead from around 30 seconds to 15. Despite this pressure from Orts though, the leader held firm, avoided making mistakes and managed to secure the victory in Hulst.

"It was a good circuit for me after having bad feelings in Namur," a delighted Orts reflected at the end of the race in conversation with Eurosport. "I feel very good and I thought two laps in that I could win. But Vandeputte was the best."
