The Italian classic will be the second race of his calendar - he will make the trip back to Europe to try and revalidate his title at the exciting race in Tuscany. He will not take part in neither Paris-Nice or Tirreno-Adriatico, nor the Volta a Catalunya as was the case this year. Instead he will follow a new cobbled classics program.
Pogacar has in the past won the
Tour of Flanders and this will be a prime goal for his spring. This time around, he will be racing the
E3 Saxo Classic and make his debut at Gent-Wevelgem. He will then race the Ardennes classics - this will include all three (Amstel Gold Race; Flèche Wallonne; Liège-Bastogne-Liège). His absence from the Giro d'Italia is official.
Matxin did not confirm whether he would be racing the Vuelta a España or not later in the year. In large, that will depend on feeling at the moment, but also on the route which will only be revealed this upcoming 19th of December in Madrid. Soon the Slovenian himself will talk about his ambitions for this important year, one where it will be incredibly hard to match his success of 2024.
