Stage winner at Paris-Nice and three-times second at UAE Tour, Tudor Pro Cycling's Arvid de Kleijn was one of the pleasant surprises of the early 2024. Since his Paris-Nice victory, the 30-year-old completed three one-day races in Belgium, before disappearing from the radar for a month.
On Tuesday, we've finally heard from De Kleijn again via his Instragram, where he informed his fans that a knee injury was the reason behind the sprinter's absence from races. No knee hindrance is to be taken lightly and thus De Kleijn will not return to action very soon, with exact date not decided at the moment, only stating that his recovery is heading in a good direction.
"Hereby an update from my side. I had a pretty good time at altitude until I hit my knee to my handlebar. A stupid mistake with big consequences. I am off the bike for a longer period right now, because the pain is too much. It gets better every day during normal daily activities, but on the other hand it’s still not painfree."
"So I’ll miss a lot of the upcoming races and that’s a pity because we worked super hard for this period. I hope to be back on the bike soon," the Dutchman concludes.
