I have a huge dislike for team bosses decimating their riders publicly, keep it behind closed doors, it says more about you than it does them. And if a team of good bike riders isn’t performing across the board, the problem usually isn’t the riders…
Earlier this week, a big controversy surrounding Caleb Ewan shook up the cycling social media. Lotto-Dstny director publicly accused Ewan who stepped out of Tour de France at the beginning of stage 13. Some fans support disappointed director, many others, including ex-pro Alex Dowsett, think letting this out on social media was not a good approach.
"I have a huge dislike for team bosses decimating their riders publicly, keep it behind closed doors, it says more about you than it does them," Dowsett begins his tweet where he doesn't name Lotto-Dstny in particular although it's relatively obvious.
According to Dowsett, this behaviour points out to bigger internal problems inside the Lotto-Dstny structure, which has also been dealing with Allan Davis' case recently. "And if a team of good bike riders isn’t performing across the board, the problem usually isn’t the riders…"
However, responding to one of the comments, Dowsett points out that he isn't talking only about Lotto-Dstny, but rather in general. Patrick Lefevere in particular has been known to publicly shame his riders in press when they don't perform according to his expectations.
