Jumbo-Visma obliterated the peloton in the fourteenth stage of the Tour de France. Jonas Vingegaard's team set a furious pace to demolish Tadej Pogacar. Although they failed to drop the Slovenian, the yellow jersey wearer still gained one second on his competitor thanks to bonifications.
"The guys were great. They all did a fantastic job. Even the heavy men made me suffer on the climbs," Sepp Kuss refers to Nathan Van Hooydonck and Christophe Laporte. The latter in particular made a big impression by thinning out the peloton and keeping a leading group of top climbers in sight.
"We all had a good feeling for today and were highly motivated. Those are the beautiful stages; that you have a plan and are trying," Kuss continues in an interview with Sporza. "Jonas and Pogacar were super strong. It's a great duel. I'm sure it will be great for the viewers at home to follow. And for us riders it's also nice to race like this, but it's not easy..."
"Of course you always want to make a big difference. Most importantly, though, we tried. We certainly have no regrets and will keep trying until the end," Kuss concludes.
