Slovenian cycling had another tremendous year and although it does not have many pro cyclists, Tadej Pogacar faced tough competition. Nevertheless, he has now been named Slovenian cyclist of the year.
Pogacar was the winner of the Clásica Jaén Paraiso Interior, Vuelta a Andalucia, Paris-Nice, Tour of Flanders, Amstel Gold Race, Flèche Wallone and Il Lombardia - alongside a second place and two stage wins at the Tour de France. It was another superb season with a massive amount of wins, both in quantity and quality. This allowed him to beat Primoz Roglic and Matej Mohoric.
Roglic was the winner of the Giro d'Italia, Tirreno-Adriatico, Volta a Catalunya, Vuelta a Burgos, Giro dell'Emilia and finished on the podium of the Vuelta a España and Il Lombardia. He put on a significant challenge but Slovenian voters had the UAE Team Emirates rider in the lead.
They also topped Gravel World Champion and Tour de France stage winner Matej Mohoric. In the meantime, Eugenia Bujak was named female Cyclist of the Year.
