"A very strong chance" Tour de France returns to Mont Ventoux for 2025 edition according to reports

One of the most iconic climbs in all of cycling, not since stage 11 of the 2021 edition has the Tour de France tackled the slopes of Mont Ventoux. According to reports however, the mythical mountain could be set for a return in 2025.

Back in 2021, Wout Van Aert took arguably the most famous triumph in his glistening career to date. In his peak form, the Belgian summitted the climb first before a short descent to the finish line, taking the victory by over a minute from Kenny Elissonde and Bauke Mollema. Showing his class as a rider, just over a week later, the Belgian triumphed in a bunch sprint on the Champs Elysees.

"There is a very strong chance that we will have the Tour de France next year," confided the LR president of the Department, Dominique Santoni, this Friday in a report by La Marseillaise. Even more exciting is the revelation that this time, unlike back in 2021, the stage is likely to be a summit finish atop Mont Ventoux, something not seen at the Tour de France since 2016. On that day, Thomas De Gendt took the victory on stage 12 of that edition of the French Grand Tour.
