Great Britain is set to host not only the 2027 Tour de France, but also the start of the
Tour de France Femmes. Whilst the route of the stages is not yet known, ASO have revealed the cities that will be hosting stages of women's cycling top event, with a stage taking place in the English capital of London.
Since the return of the
Tour de France Femmes, it will be the first time that the race will be moving through British roads. The men were able to experience this in 2014 where the Grand Depart in Yorkshire proved to be very successful, and now the women's field will be able to experience the British crowds in full force - and perhaps on some of the same roads and climbs.
The men's route will be starting in Edinburgh and head down south with stage finales in Carlisle, Liverpool and Cardiff. The women's event will be featuring a different route, not taking place in Scotland or Wales, but instead fully within English territory.
The race will start off in Leeds on the 30th of July 2027, as Yorkshire now hosts the
Tour de France Femmes 13 years after the men's race, with stage 1 ending in Manchester. Stage 2 will begin in Manchester and finish in Sheffield; whilst stage 3 should start and finish in London.
This year's edition saw Pauline Ferrand-Prévot make a fantastic comeback to the road, taking part in the Tour for the first time in her career, and taking an astounding set of victories at the Col de la Madeleine and Châtel that were the key moments of her yellow jersey story. This summer the race is going to start in Switzerland as Lausanne and Genève host stage finishes, whilst the nine-day event will then end in Nice - as the men's 2024 Tour de France did, with great success.
