It is not a number to get excited about, but Spain has improved its participation compared to that of 2022 (which with 9 was the worst in forty years) at the 2023 Tour de France. A total of 14 Spanish riders will start on Saturday, July 1 in the Grande Départ de Bilbao and some of them will be leaders of their squads for the general classification.
Movistar Team, how could it be otherwise, the only Spanish WorldTour team, will be the one that contributes the most Spaniards, with a total of four and with Enric Mas looking for the podium. INEOS Greandiers goes with 3 and with Carlos Rodríguez in co-leader position with the Colombian Daniel Martínez. Another team that contributes more than one rider is Astana, with David de la Cruz and Luis León Sánchez, who will seek stage victories.
Juanpe López will debut in the Tour de France with Lidl-Trek, Marc Soler will be Tadej Pogacar's companion in the UAE, Ion Izagirre will look for stages and the general with Cofidis. Last but not least, we have Mikel Landa and Pello Bilbao 's Bahrain Victorious , who are more than excited about the Bilbao start and who will try to fight in stages and the general.

Thus, it is a complete participation, with riders capable of fighting in stages and with others designed to try for a good position in the general classification. The fact that the first 3 stages take place in the Basque Country have undoubtedly improved Spanish participation in the Tour compared to previous editions. We will see the results later.
