Laurens Sweeck took second place in the Hulst World Cup. He was behind Tom Pidcock, but after his withdrawal, he jumped to second place and finished behind Mathieu van der Poel.
His latest result helped him pass Eli Iserbyt in World Cup standing. "It's nice to take that jersey. We are halfway through the World Cup now. I will definitely defend the lead in the coming weeks and will try to take the overall win," he said.
Sweeck has no plans to let go of the leader’s jersey. He aims to finish the season with top overall standing. He also leads in Superprestige. "I also don't know how many more chances I'm going to get in the next few years to win that jersey, so I'm definitely going to fight for it. I am focusing on two classifications this season and I am now leader in both. So it's going pretty well. It would be nice to win them both, but one is already nice enough," concluded Sweeck.
