After a trio of crashes in the last week, it's perhaps a little unsurprising that
Primoz Roglic was at less than 100 percent on stage 15 of the 2025
Giro d'Italia. Not many predicted the extent of the difference between the
Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe leader and the rest of the general classification hopefuls however.
On the final climb of the stage, Roglic was unable to stay with any of his main general classification competitors, even finding it difficult to match the pace of his own support riders who were trying to minimize his time losses. The five-time Grand Tour champion ultimately crossed the finish line well behind the leaders, conceding a full 1 minute and 30 seconds to the race leader, Isaac del Toro. The Slovenian now finds himself barely holding onto a spot in the Top 10 overall, trailing the Maglia Rosa and rising Mexican talent from UAE Team Emirates - XRG by 3 minutes and 53 seconds in the GC standings.
Understandably given the disappointment, Roglic raced through a hubbub of media when trying to find his team bus after crossing the line. On his way through however, TNT Sports were able to quickly ask the Slovenian: “You still have hope to try something?” After a moment of thought and consideration, Roglic replied with a shrug: “I’m just happy that I finished."
